This engraved headcollar nameplate is the plate Smart Wag fits to its customisable headcollars. It measures 100 × 12 mm and attaches to the headpiece with two matching rivets, supplied with the plate. Sold on its own, it replaces a damaged plate, updates a name or equips a headcollar bought without engraving.
The table shows, for each headcollar in the range, whether the plate matches the model. The Soul, Soul PRO and Exclusif leather headcollars use the same format. Straight or cut-back headpieces: direct fitting
On these headcollars the plate is riveted straight onto the headpiece, with no stitching or adaptation. It matches the silver or brass finish of the fittings. A headcollar ordered with its free engraving already arrives with this plate. The separate reference then serves as a spare.
Special cases: bridles, sidepulls and headcollars from other brands
A bridle or a sidepull takes a shorter plate, the engraved bridle nameplate. For a headcollar from another brand, compare the width of the headpiece with the 100 × 12 mm format before ordering. If in doubt, contact the workshop with a photo of the headpiece.
What you can have engraved on the plate
The plate takes one line of up to 26 characters, spaces and punctuation included. Two fonts are offered: the upright serif font and the script font with joined letters. The engraving is black or tone on tone, on a silver or brass finish matching the fittings.
These limits are those of the configurator, identical to the plate supplied with a Soul or leather and rope headcollar. They differ from engraving directly into leather, offered on other items with their own rules. The configurator resets each word to proper-name case, so read the preview before confirming.

How the engraving looks on light and dark leather
On a metal plate, legibility depends on the contrast between the letters and the metal. The colour of the leather matters little. Black engraving on a silver plate stays legible on a black headcollar as well as on a brown one. Tone-on-tone engraving relies more on relief and reflections.
Photos comparing the same plate on light and then on dark leather are not published yet. In the meantime, the configurator preview shows your text, the chosen font and the finish. It simulates neither real lighting nor the reflections of the metal.
Fitting on the headpiece and caring for the plate
The plate comes with two rivets matching its finish. They pass through the headpiece and are fitted without stitching. Position the plate away from the buckles and adjustment points. Check that the rivets are tight before the first outing.
For care, wipe the plate with a soft dry cloth after rain or a wash-down. Do not use abrasive products on the engraving. The leather of the headpiece keeps its usual care routine, with no oil on the metal.
